Maldives
The Maldives was such an amazing beach getaway. I was lucky enough to visit a couple years ago and it blew me away.
Each fancy resort gets its own entire private island! So cool to have that much space all to yourself. I stayed at this gorgeous overwater villa right on the turquoise waters.
As beautiful as the rooms were, my favorite part was getting to see the unbelievable underwater scenery around the islands. The Maldives has the prettiest, most colorful coral reefs I’ve ever witnessed. I went snorkeling and scuba diving and saw massive sharks and huge manta rays up close!
When I needed a break from the ocean, I’d explore the capital city Malé. The old coral-stone mosques were so neat, and the National Museum had really interesting artifacts and stuff.
I absolutely loved the tasty local food too. The curries were so flavorful and delicious, especially this smoked tuna one called Mas Huni. And you have to try the sweet bambara’ango cakes before leaving.
Evenings were the best – sipping cocktails at a beachside bar while catching those famous Maldives sunsets. I’m already wanting to go back! November through April is probably the perfect time weatherwise.

At night, the beaches come alive with beach parties, seafood curries, and local toddy drinks. There are fun festivals too, like one where people jump into wells fully clothed! Goa is affordable with a buzzing scene between November-March.

Phi Phi Islands Thailand
The Phi Phi Islands in Thailand are a secluded paradise made famous by the movie “The Beach.” Though that iconic Maya Bay is closed now, there are plenty of stunning beaches.
Take a longtail boat to visit islands like Bamboo Island with powdery sands and Nui Beach lined with palms. Hike for great viewpoints overlooking the islands. Go snorkeling to see the coral gardens up close.
In the evenings, the town of Tonsai has beach parties, fire shows, and casual seafood restaurants. Visit from November-April for calm waters and fewer crowds.
